1. No purchase necessary. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. The City of Heroes Melee Madness Contest (the “Contest”) is open to legal residents of the United States subject to eligibility guidelines below. Void where prohibited by law. This Contest is sponsored by Alderac Entertainment Group. (“AEG”). YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO MAKE A PURCHASE OR PROVIDE OTHER CONSIDERATION TO ENTER OR WIN.
2. Eligibility: The Contest is open to any legal resident of the United States. Employees of AEG, NCSoft, Cryptic Studios, their affiliates, subsidiaries, franchisees, agents, retailers, advertising and promotion agencies, and fulfillment companies, and their immediate families (parents, children, siblings, spouse) and members of their same households (related or not) are not eligible to participate in the Contest. You must be 18 years of age to enter.
3. How to enter: We will be running a Battlepack™ tournament in the AEG offices using 32 of the 33 heroes in City of Heroes: Arena. Now is your chance to use your knowledge of the game and the world to win a whole bunch of Swag. But mostly it’s a chance to argue over who should beat who. You will rank each of the heroes from #1 to #32, with #32 as your favorite to win the whole thing!
Provide your guess to us in one of two (2) ways:
1) Post it through the CoH ccg website contest page [here].
2) Send it, typewritten, on 8 1/2” x 11 sheets of paper to Alderac Entertainment Group, Attn: Hero Melee Madness Contest, 4045 Guasti Road, Suite 212, Ontario, California, 91761. Please include your name, e-mail address and postal address.
The tournament will start on May 7th, so all entries must be received before 11:59 pm, May 6th, 2006. Limit one entry per person and 2 entries per household. Entries are the property of AEG and will not be acknowledged or returned.
4. Judging: Each entry will score points equal to the hero’s rank for each win the hero achieves during the tournament. The entry with the highest point total wins the contest. In the event of a tie, the entry with the higher rank given to the hero who wins the tournament shall be declared the winner, then the entry with the highest combined ranks in the finals, then the final 4, and so on. In the event of an overall tie, the winner will be determined randomly from amongst the tied entries. The winner will be posted on the message boards at http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=79.. All decisions made by AEG on all matters relating to this Contest are binding. Winners will be notified by e-mail or telephone. If winners are unable to be contacted at the information they provided within three (3) days after attempts are made, winner may be disqualified and prize may not be awarded in AEG’s sole discretion.
5. Prize and Approximate Retail Value:
One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive
- One (1) City of Heroes ccg T-shirt.
- One (1) full set of CoH ccg: Arena foil cards.
- One (1) City of Villains™ Collector’s Edition Game, courtesy of NCSoft.
- The winner will have his or her hero printed as hero in an upcoming City of Heroes CCG set!
- -One (1) City of Heroes ccg license plate frame (don’t laugh!)
- Approximate retail value of prize is $200.
One (1) Second Place winner will receive:
- One (1) City of Heroes ccg T-shirt.
- One (1) full set of CoH ccg: Arena foil cards.
- One (1) City of Villains™ Collector’s Edition Game, courtesy of NCSoft.
- Approximate retail value of prize is $190.
Four (1) Runners-Up will receive:
- One (1) City of Heroes ccg T-shirt.
- One (1) City of Villains™ Collector’s Edition Game, courtesy of NCSoft.
- Approximate retail value of prize is $40.
Prizes are not transferable. Return of prize/prize notification as undeliverable, or failure to comply with any terms of these Official Rules will result in a winner’s disqualification.
6. Conditions: AEG and its agencies are not responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to, or alterations of, entry materials, or failure to receive any entry information. Further, AEG and its agencies are not responsible for late, lost, damaged, destroyed, delayed, illegible, postage-due or incomplete entries. AEG reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend, modify or cancel the Contest. By participating in the Contest, entrant agrees to release and hold AEG, its directors, officers, employees, subsidiaries, affiliates, divisions, agencies and all prize suppliers, harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind in connection with the Contest, or resulting from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, including, without limitation, personal injuries, death and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy, whether suffered by entrant or a third party. This Contest is void where prohibited by law. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges. All winners, on behalf of themselves, their executors, heirs and assigns, by acceptance of a prize, agree to release AEG from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses of any kind to persons or property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or otherwise. By accepting a prize, each winner grants AEG permission to use his/her name and likeness for advertising and future promotional purposes without notice or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law). This Contest is subject to these Official Rules. Failure to comply with The Official Rules will result in disqualification. An entrant’s entries will be disqualified, at the sole discretion of AEG, if he or she attempts (a) to enter the Contest through any means other than described in these Official Rules; or (b) to disrupt the Contest, circumvent the terms and conditions of these Official Rules, or in any way tamper with any component of the Contest.
