Our very own Danny “The Greek” Ray brings his expert analysis to you. Here are Danny’s look at the first round…
Flower Knight vs. Dynamique = Dynamique
Oh boy, Flower Knight’s in big trouble. I predict Dynamique winning with hardly a scratch on her. Plainly due to her starting power, Radiation Force, Dynamique will block some of Flower Knight’s attacks, dealing damage in the process.
Pyrexiah vs. Mynx = Mynx
Pyrexiah can deal a good amount of damage, but Mynx can heal some of it back. The main reason why Mynx will win is because she can make Pyrexiah not defend herself, and for a 20 hit point Blaster, this means trouble.
Statesman vs. Snowslide = Statesman
Once again, 20 hit points are what matters here. Sure Snowslide can cause a few status effects and can protect himself in a few ways, but Statesman is all muscle. If Statesman gets out a few powers early, the match is his.
Lighthouse vs. Ms. Liberty = Ms. Liberty
I think this will be a very close match. If Lighthouse can protect herself from Ms. Liberty’s first assault, Ms. Liberty will be in trouble. The only thing that is going to save her is her Invulnerability.
Fusillade vs. Chain Reaction = Chain Reaction
Hands down, this fight belongs to Chain Reaction. He will stun and immobilize the poor blaster and leave him with nothing to do. With no defenses or healing, Fusillade’s hit points will diminish fast.
Hero 1 vs. Stygian = Hero 1
I think this will be the fight to see of round 1. Both can deal and take damage. I’m not too sure Hero 1 will be taking too many attacks for his sidekick, seeing as to how Stygian will just impose a –2 accuracy on his enemy with most of his confirmed hits.
Polar Star vs. Lady Grey = Polar Star
Another great match up. If Polar Star can hit Lady Grey hard in the first couple of turns and avoids some of Lady’s attacks, she will undoubtedly win this fight. The big splinter in Lady Grey’s side that will bug her throughout the match, is the fact that she will have to discard a card every time she attacks Polar Star.
Wasteland vs. Radstorm = Wasteland
If Wasteland plays smart and keeps the card control, Radstorm will not be able to touch him. Radstorm may do a couple of damage here and there, but nothing significant. Wasteland will take minor damage, but deal plenty with his Super Strength.
Positron vs. Serpent Drummer = Serpent Drummer
Because Serpent Drummer starts with his healing power, I give the match to him. If Positron is able to pull his healing, it will be a very long, but not unbearable fight.
Bottle Rocket vs. Trajectory = Trajectory
Trajectory better watch himself in this battle. If he doesn’t play smart and loses some cards early, Bottle Rocket’s “Skyrockets in Flight” power will do massive damage early. But I definitely do not think Trajectory is going to be the one with card problems. He will be hurt by the end of the fight, but will pull through at the finish line.
Aesir vs. Sister Psyche = Sister Psyche
Sure Aesir can do some of the most damage in the game, but Sister Psyche will control him throughout the fight. Early on she will cripple Aesir’s attack power by using her Mindrider. Even when Aesir lands some blows on her, she will put up her shield and just heal that damage back. I think if Aesir can get the initiative, he has a fighting chance, but if Psyche goes first and shuts down his power, he’s in trouble.
Flux vs. Somber Warrior = Somber Warrior
This will be the biggest shut out yet. Somber Warrior can discard a card to gain 2 resistance of all damage types against most of Flux’s attacks. Not only the fact that Flux can barely hurt Somber, but Somber can definitely put some hurt on Flux with his Dark Melee.
Manticore vs. Caldera = Caldera
Caldera! Caldera! Caldera! Manticore will be lucky if he’s able to hit Caldera with her Blazing Speed up. Even if he does, she may have already drawn and activated her other Fiery Aura powers. Bye Bye Manticore.
Night Strike vs. Conductress = Night Strike
The only way Conductress will win here, is if she gets great draws and is able to drop two powers at a time. But, even when she lands an attack on Night Strike, it will only get him angry.
Synapse vs. Tricksie = Synapse
Synapse will have the card advantage throughout the entire confrontation. Tricksie will get off a couple of shots, but have to concentrate on resting and drawing cards. I think in the end, the discarding will be overwhelming for Tricksie.
Infernal vs. Regulus = Infernal
Infernal will win by using smart tactics. If he can counter with his Bind Demon and land some well-placed attacks with his Battle Axe, Regulus will not stand a chance.
